David Murphey is an American photographer who is best known for his contemporary / fashion-based styled wedding photography. David was born on April 17, 1969 in Honolulu, Hawaii and currently resides in Makiki, HI.

He began his photography career as a magazine and advertising photographer. Throughout the 1990s and early 2000s he worked with publications and companies such as Wine Spectator, USA Today, Hualalai Resorts[1], Starwood and Modern Luxury.

In 2001 he was named Outstanding Young Advertising Person of the Year by the American Advertising Federation[2]. He is the first and only photographer to be honored with this award.

Subjects of his celebrity portraits include Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Michael Johnson (athlete) and Hoku Ho.

He photographed Paul Marcarelli the "Test Man" character from 2004-2005 as part of the Verizon Wireless national advertising campaign.

In 2000, David began photographing weddings as a request by Sandra Mar, one of the illustrators of South Park for her wedding on Maui. He is noted for both his photojournalistic style as well the posed, formal images that are inspired by his editorial fashion photography.
