I've been around on Wikipedia for a long time now and I've learned some important rules of engagement that you might find helpful. Here they are:

  1. WP:AGF stands for "assume good faith". It's an assumption and thus it is implicit rather than explicit. Never accuse someone of acting in bad faith; likewise, never accuse someone of failing to assume good faith. Even worse, never cite WP:AGF, because then you're just leaving yourself open to WP:AAGF.
  2. Don't ever cite WP:DICK, because then you're leaving yourself open to WP:DOUCHEBAG. If someone is being incivil, calling them a dick is hypocritical, not helpful.
  3. Don't ever cite WP:POINT. You're likely one of the 90% of people who don't understand it, and even if you are in the enlightened 10%, 90% of the people reading you won't understand it.
  4. Don't ever question anything done under the auspices of WP:OFFICE — you don't want to get involved.
  5. WP:BOLD is a tradeoff between getting things done and generating flak. If you fail to achieve the appropriate ratio you will be torn apart by shrapnel.
