Angela Beach Silverthorne is an Eastern North Carolina native.  She grew up in Williamston, North Carolina in the 1950's.  She married soon after high school, another local, Dallas Silverthorne, wh due to the nautre of his job with General Electric moved frequently.  She received her bachelor's in English for the State Univiersity of New York, at Albany.  Post graduation, she directed a childcare center, taught English as a second language, and worked as a hospice volunteer.  She is the mother of three daughters.
   Angela's first book, published in 2001, taught readers about poetry, Promises Seeded Inside:  Exploring Life Through Poetry.  According to the author, this book is about the process of writing poetry.  The author intended to open the world of poetry to those who did not enjoy poetry.  Each poem included in the book is prefaced with background to their origin and concept.  This book was a text for two semester in an undergraduate poetry class at East Carolina University.  The book contains over 50 poems and is about 180 pages long.
    Her next book, Depression Cookies, is currently in editing.  The work is a joint effort with her daughter, Tia Bach.  The pair have been working on the novel  for about eight years.  This book chronicles the coming of age of a young girl and the effects of this coming of age on the life of her mother.  The author suggests that this book is about the power of family ties, relationships, Southern heritage, conflict and being a woman.
