WHAT IS CUFLA? The Canadian University Field Lacrosse Association is the governing body for intercollegiate lacrosse in Canada.

The league was established in 1985 as the Ontario University Field Lacrosse Association and has expanded to include 10 university teams and another eight probationary collegiate programs seeking future acceptance into the league. These universities are located from Nova Scotia to Ontario.

The CUFLA season starts with regular season games in early September and finishes with the Baggataway Cup Championship, which is held in early November. CUFLA matches are highly competitive and involve some of the best lacrosse players in Canada at this age group.

ARE THE TEAMS VARSITY?

CUFLA teams range from fully funded varsity programs under the direct supervision of their athletic departments to intercollegiate club teams.

ARE THERE SCHOLARSHIPS?

Academic scholarships are available at all institutions, but there are currently no athletic scholarships

WHO’S ELIGIBLE TO PLAY?

Only current students registered at their respective universities with a full course load are deemed eligible to play in CUFLA competitions CAN NLL PLAYERS COMPETE? CUFLA feels that field lacrosse and indoor lacrosse are two different and distinct sports. Although stick skills are identical, the game play and rules are different. Therefore, National Lacrosse League players are permitted to compete in CUFLA competitions.
