Template talk:John Coltrane
Coltrane changesEarlier today, in good faith, I added 'Coltrane changes' to the template. I also re-organised the end of the template to allow his contributions to music theory to be assembled in its own group (just as the recordings for various labels are in their own groups). These changes were reverted with the explanation "bulky, unnecessary".
Surely there can be no objection to that. Perhaps the objection was to having migrated 'Category' into the footer. I am re-making that edit (although not the footer). If there are any objections, please could you offer an explanation here, before re-reverting, of the reasoning? Thanks. Simply because Coltrane appears on a date does not mean that the record is a date under Coltrane's name. If that were so, then we would put all of his output with Miles Davis into this template. I have added another Coltrane LP to this template. It should be noted that just because a record is under-recognized or almost forgotten, it does not mean that the record should be omitted from the template.Dogru144 (talk) 22:34, 13 July 2011 (UTC) Coltrane bootlegs and unofficial live recordingsSeveral unofficial live albums are listed on this template. These consist of bootlegs made by companies that did not work with Coltrane on a contractual basis, and which often created the recordings using radio and television broadcasts. They should be moved to a separate bootlegs page similar to the Pink Floyd bootleg recordings page, or listed in the template under a separate category for unofficial albums. I plan to remove them in the next several days. Infamous30 (talk) 14:38, 2 March 2013 (UTC)
