Steam and Game Mania scores

This page seems to be the target of an attack by users who are invested in hiding the information that the game's reviews are discrepant between game journalists and the general public. Specific user reviews are not being used to make this point, but rather the "Very Positive" rating generated by Steam and Metacritic's algorithm. Furthermore, reliable information from non-American sources has been ignored, creating a biased Amero-centric view of this title which fails to account for the views of anyone outside the continental United States and erases non-American voices. It is inappropriate to redact this information, and the constant edit-warring is not appreciated. --GrandmasterLiuHu (talk) 10:04, 17 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop reverting the fact that this game scored 9/10 on Steam and 5/5 on Game Mania.

A Google search is not a reliable source. Per WP:VG/REC, we don't include user scores unless they have received coverage in reliable sources. The Steam reception is already mentioned in the article, with a reliable source. There are multiple websites called Game Mania, and it's not clear which one you're referring to. I've never even heard of it, and it isn't listed anywhere at WP:VG/RS, so it's not clear why we would bother mentioning it. It doesn't appear to be a notable source that would be worth including.  AJFU  (talk) 14:45, 31 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I disagree with you. The Google search simply shows the current rating of Terminator Resistance on Steam 9/10 from over 2000 reviews and on Game Media 5/5. Game Media is the rating source Europeans get when they search for Terminator Resistance. You’ve probably not heard of it because you are not European. Though I am pretty sure that you’ve heard of Steam and that it is 9/10 on Steam in the US as well.

This game is known as one where the critic scores do not match the user scores. The fact that Teyon was responsible for the very badly received Rambo Video game was cause for that. https://www.thegamer.com/terminator-resistance-pros-cons/ That is a secondary source (per WP:VG/RS) citing the same discrepancy.

The article cannot state that Playstation gamers absolutely hated it and Windows users absolutely loved it without an explanation. As the game is identical on both platforms. Gold333 (talk) 07:47, 2 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

This contested content has already been removed several times. It should not have been restored again while it is being discussed, and a web search should not be used as a source. The Steam page itself should be used directly, but as I said, this is unnecessary as we already have a secondary source (Polygon) to support that the game received favorable user reviews. Also, the Google search does not mention anything about Game Mania (or is it "Game Media"?). A search for "Game Mania" brings up several foreign websites, and it's not clear which of them you're referring to. Is it just a collection of user reviews? If so, we should be using a secondary source per WP:VG/REC. I don't see "thegamer" listed anywhere at WP:VG/RS. From what I read, the link you provided doesn't explain why the PS4 version was poorly received compared to the Windows version. It only says that the game scored poorly with critics while the Steam version was well received by users.  AJFU  (talk) 15:50, 2 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
