Talk:Query optimization

[Untitled]

I don't think the section "A common searching algorithm" is relevant to "query optimization" (in a database context). In fact, databases use multiway external merge sort algorithm which is different from the algorithm (essentially an in-memory merge sort) in that section. 129.94.242.38 (talk) 01:27, 5 February 2008 (UTC) wei[reply]

I have decided to expand this article by a considerable amount, introducing examples and a more in depth coverage of standard techniques in use by state of the art query optimizers, using reliable sources. Just a heads up in case someone else was thinking the same. Atypic 21:39, 16 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

categorization

if someone can tell me how to categorize this article, i could put it under "database"... >I'm no database expert (hence why I'm looking through the articles) but perhaps this article should be merged with the "Query optimizer" article which links to this one. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 60.242.17.174 (talk) 02:29, 12 April 2008 (UTC) i would really like to see and indepth example of how query processing actually takes place... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 117.241.40.138 (talk) 15:07, 4 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
