Talk:Common tsessebe

Sexual behaviour

BBC reports on a peculiar sexual behaviour of the Topi. I could add the info from the BBC article, but I think it would be better if it were done by someone with access to the actual article published in the Current Biology journal.bogdan (talk) 22:42, 28 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Moved and taxonomy clean-up needed

I'm currently updating Wikipedia with the latest scientific taxonomy of the Alcelaphinae as it is in Wilson and Reeder (2005). Therefor a huge clean-up is needed for these species, including this one. This page was formely called Topi, but that is now a subspecies under another species. Yes, very much still needed between this one and Topi. Dicklyon (talk) 15:18, 17 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I suggest we split off Damaliscus lunatus into its own article, to discuss the division into the various sub-species, and keep just this one sub-species under Common tsessebe. Dicklyon (talk) 00:19, 18 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

OK, I did the split, taking Common tsessebe back to close to what it was before all the more general species info was added. Please see if I got it about right, and help tune it up. Dicklyon (talk) 01:37, 18 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Speed

Reference number 5 links to a quote on a Hartebeest's speed and not a Tsessebe. These are 2 different animals. The Tsessebe is widely regarded as the fastest antelope in Africa and has been quoted as reaching speeds of up to 100km/h. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Boyshey (talkcontribs) 10:44, 24 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
