Syed Abdul Malik (1919–2000) was an eminent Indian novelist of Assamese literature , hailed from Naharani village near Dergaon in Golaghat district of Assam . He was the president of Asam Sahitya Sabha in 1977 held at Abhayapuri .
Malik received many awards, including Padmashri , Padma Bhusan ,[ 1] Sahitya Akademi Award ,[ 2] Sankar Dev Award, Xahityacharyya, etc.[ 3] Malik won Sahitya Akademi Award in 1972 for his novel Aghari Atmar Kahini (Tale of a Nomadic Soul).
He died on 20 December 2000.[ 4]
