After the 2016 census, the village of Eslamabad was elevated to the status of the city of Eslamshahr-e Aqgol.[5]

Population
At the time of the 2006 census, the county's population was 285,272 in 73,755 households.[6] The following census in 2011 counted 287,982 people in 83,746 households.[7] The 2016 census measured the population of the county as 288,685 in 89,762 households.[2]
