Émer is a French-Vietnamese company founded in Vietnam in 2021 by entrepreneur Céline Ventalon. The company specializes in reusable menstrual underwear and menstrual health initiatives in Southeast Asia. Founded during a period of increasing interest in sustainable alternatives to disposable menstrual products, Émer developed reusable menstrual products while expanding educational initiatives related to menstrual health, sustainability, and women’s well-being.[1]

History
Creation

Émer was founded in April 2021 under Womany LTD with the objective of introducing reusable menstrual products to the Vietnamese, Malaysia and Singapore market. The project was launched by Céline Ventalon, a French entrepreneur based in Vietnam for more than fifteen years with experience in the lingerie and fashion industry. Prior to founding Émer, she worked with brands including Chantelle and Passionata and later developed several entrepreneurial ventures across Asia. [2][3][4]
In November 2021, Émer launched its first menstrual lingerie collection in Vietnam. In October 2022, Céline Ventalon became the sole owner of the brand. [5]
SaigonBiz later featured the launch of Émer’s premium menstrual lingerie collection and highlighted the company’s positioning around French textile technology and sustainable menstrual care in Vietnam.[5]
Development and Expansion
In 2023, Émer expanded its product range with the launch of Lily Pads, washable menstrual pads developed as reusable alternatives to disposable products. During the same period, the company expanded its distribution network across Vietnam before extending its commercial presence to Singapore and Malaysia, representing its first expansion outside Vietnam. Émer products later became available through selected retail partners including Annam Gourmet, Matsukiyo, Guardian stores in Singapore. [2][4]
Also in 2023, Émer introduced the “EM” collection in collaboration with Vietnamese model and designer Thảo Nhi Lê and her brand Daphale Studios. The collaboration combined fashion-oriented lingerie design with reusable menstrual products.[2]
Educational and Social Initiatives
Beyond product development, Émer expanded educational activities centered around menstrual health awareness. The company organized workshops and educational sessions in international schools in Vietnam including International School Ho Chi Minh City (ISHCMC), Saigon South International School (SSIS), and European International School (EIS). The company also collaborated with educational institutions including RMIT University Vietnam and DHV Global Hung Vuong University of HCMC (DHV) on initiatives related to menstrual awareness and communication projects. [3][4]
In parallel, Émer delivered menstrual health workshops and workplace awareness initiatives for private organizations including Standard Chartered Bank and Toyota.[3]
In 2024, Céline Ventalon participated in discussions with Vietnam Weekly regarding menstrual health challenges affecting women working in manufacturing environments and broader social perceptions surrounding menstruation.[6]
The company has also implemented awareness initiatives through collaborations with NGOs and local organizations focused on menstrual health access and education.[2][3][7]
Six Senses Con Dao initiative
In 2025, Émer partnered with Six Senses Con Dao to launch a menstrual health initiative on Côn Đảo Island. The program included workshops and the distribution of reusable menstrual kits to local women and girls as part of broader health awareness efforts. [8]
The initiative later received recognition at the HICAP Sustainable Hotel Awards in the category “Positive Community Impact”. [8]
Recognition and Media
In 2023, Émer was selected among the eight finalists of the VSV Impact-Up Summit, a Vietnamese program supporting impact-oriented startups. [9]
The same year, Céline Ventalon appeared on Shark Tank Vietnam, where entrepreneur Nguyễn Hòa Bình proposed an investment package combining equity and financing. The television appearance contributed to increased media visibility for the company. [10]
Vietnam Business Insider notably covered Émer’s Shark Tank Vietnam appearance and described the company’s reusable menstrual underwear model and sustainable positioning. [10]
In 2024, Céline Ventalon participated in the CCIFV Accelerator Program 2024, a program supporting entrepreneurs and startups in Vietnam.[11]
The same year, Céline Ventalon was listed among the Vietnam Leaders Awards winners by the World Women Leadership Congress. [12]
In 2024, Céline Ventalon was also selected as part of the Heroes Women Role Models list published by the British organization INvolve.[13]
Several publications later featured Émer and its founder including Oi Vietnam, BusinessWoman Magazine, Tatler Asia and Singapore-based publication Wildchild.[2][3][4]
