SoftCo is a private Irish software company headquartered in Dublin. Its cloud-based platform, SoftCoAI+, automates finance operations such as procurement, accounts payable, e-invoicing, payments, and compliance reporting.[1] The company serves clients in Europe and North America, with offices in Ireland, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Finland.[1]

History

SoftCo was founded in 1990 by Susan Spence and Jim Coffey. The company began as a provider of document management solutions before expanding into financial process automation.[2]

In the 2000s, it introduced workflow-based invoice approvals and integrated with enterprise systems including SAP and Oracle.[3] The 2010s saw further developments including e-invoicing and supplier onboarding modules.[4]

In 2016, SoftCo was awarded a €17 million contract by the Government of Finland to digitize procurement across over 70 departments under the national "Handi" programme.[3][4]

In 2020, it launched ExpressAP, a cloud-based accounts payable solution designed for rapid implementation.[5]

In 2024, SoftCo was acquired by the European private equity firm Keensight Capital in a deal valued at over €100 million, with the aim of supporting further international growth and product development.[6][7]

The SoftCoAI+ platform offers modular solutions including:

  • SoftCoAP – Automates invoice capture and processing, incorporating AI for auto-coding and compliance validation.

  • Vendor management – Supplier onboarding, document tracking, and centralized compliance data.
  • E-invoicing – Enables tax-compliant invoicing across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Payments and reporting – Secure payment workflows and audit-ready compliance reporting.

SoftCo solutions integrate with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, and Infor.[4]

Notable projects

The company's most prominent public sector project involved digitizing procurement operations for the Government of Finland. The system was rolled out across 70 departments, contributing to cost savings and improved transparency.[4]

SoftCo has sponsored the Ireland women's national field hockey team since 2018, including its run to the World Cup final that year.[9] In 2024, the company extended its sponsorship to both the women’s and men’s teams through 2025.[10]
