Draft:Shashank Kumar

  • Comment: Need more significant coverage in reliable sources and independent sources. Afstromen (talk) 05:27, 6 February 2026 (UTC)
  • Comment: This article comes across as very promotional, and not encyclopedic. So lots of references to "recognition" aspects, almost no specifics on his career. It also looks AI assisted, due to the language used, the bold formatting and the detachment between what the sources actually say and the article texts. Shashank Kumar is an Indian entrepreneur and the co-founder and CEO of DeHaat, an India-based agritech company.[1] He was featured in Forbes India's 30 Under 30 list in 2014.[2] He also appeared in the Amazon Prime Video documentary series Bharat Startup Yatra in 2025.[3]

Early life and education

Kumar was born in Chhapra, Bihar and did his schooling from Netarhat Residential School in Jharkhand. He later earned an engineering degree from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi.[4]

Career

After graduating, Kumar worked in consulting and technology roles before entering the agritech sector.[5] In 2012, he co-founded DeHaat, originally incorporated as Green Agrevolution.[6] The idea emerged from his upbringing in rural Bihar and his exposure to supply chain inefficiencies during his consulting career. This led him to move back home and build a platform focused on providing farmers with access to inputs, advisory services, and market linkages.[7] They initially operated through a limited network of local centres in Bihar and later expanded to more states with a broader integrated supply-chain model.[8]

Awards and recognition

  • Included in Forbes India's 30 Under 30 list (2014) for his work in the agri-tech sector.[9]
  • In 2014, Kumar was named among Times Now's "Amazing Indians".[10]
  • He was featured in 40 Under 40 list by BW Disrupt in 2017 for leadership in India's startup ecosystem.[11]
  • in 2021, Kumar received an award for The Company of the Year (Agro) at the TV9 Dare 2 Dream Awards.[12]
