Sam Laprade (born in Oshawa, Ontario) is a Canadian fundraising strategist, broadcaster, and author.

Early life and education

Laprade was born in Oshawa, Ontario and raised in Deep River, Ontario before moving to Ottawa as a teenager.[1] She completed a diploma in public relations at Algonquin College and took a work placement at CBC Radio.[2]

Nonprofit career

Laprade began her fundraising career in 1991, with work in legacy giving, capital campaigns and major gifts for organizations such as the Ottawa Hospital, Ottawa Humane Society and the Ottawa Mission Foundation.[3][4] She holds a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) credential.[5] Laprade has served as Director of Gryphon Fundraising, providing donor analytics to nonprofit clients since 2009.[6]

Broadcasting

From 2021 to 2023, Laprade hosted The Sam Laprade Show on CityNews 101.1 FM, featuring interviews and local stories.[7] In 2018 she began hosting the television and radio series An Hour to Give on Rogers TV Ottawa and Country 101.1.[6] She also hosts Ottawa Business Matters on Rogers TV.[6]

Publications

In March 2025, Laprade wrote Ottawa Made with Caroline Phillips, a compilation of Ottawa-based inventions and creators.[8][9]
