Princess Y. Benson (born June 2000) is a Ghanaian medical researcher, health advocate, medical student, respiratory therapist, and social entrepreneur. She is a member of the University of Ghana Medical School Class of 2027 and the co‑founder of the Paragon Save A Life Foundation, which delivers cardiopulmonary resuscitation training, first aid education, and public health awareness campaigns[1]. She is equally the co-founder of the Foundation's for-profit arm, Paragon Corporate Health Consulting, an organization focused on workplace health and well‑being in Ghana.[2]

Early life and education

Benson was born in Accra, Ghana and attended Achimota School, completing the General Science program in 2018.[3]

She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Respiratory Therapy from the University of Ghana in 2022. In 2023, she gained admission to the University of Ghana Medical School through the 4-year graduate entry medical programme.[4]

Paragon Corporate Health Consulting

Benson co‑founded Paragon Corporate Health Consulting, an organization focused on improving workplace health and well‑being in Ghana. The company offers health risk assessments, corporate wellness programs, and workplace emergency preparedness training.[5]

Paragon Save A Life Foundation

She is a co-founder and CEO of the Paragon Save a Life Foundation, which is the foundation arm of Paragon Corporate Health Consulting. The nonprofit promotes cardiopulmonary resuscitation and first-aid training, public education on preventable comorbidities, including hypertension and diabetes, awareness on emergency response, and health outreach activities in schools, workplaces, and communities. In February 2026, Benson and the foundation were recognized by Bridge for Billions, a global social enterprise supporting early‑stage ventures, and by the Boehringer Ingelheim Making More Health program for work related to cardio‑renal‑metabolic health in Ghana.[6]

Professional involvement

Benson was selected for the Healthcare Leadership Academy 2025 cohort, where she received mentorship from Johann Malawana.[7]

She is a member of the American Heart Association, the General Thoracic Surgical Club, and the Society of Thoracic Surgeons.

Research interests

Benson's research[8] and clinical interests focus on cardiothoracic surgery and the structural challenges of African health systems. Specifically, her research focuses on diseases amenable to cardiothoracic surgery[9], cardiothoracic surgical training pathways, and the health system strengthening in Africa.[10]
