The game features unique "laneless" gameplay and dynamic judgement lines, the story is found in a collection page in the form of "files", following the main characters, Geopelia and Gino and their peers.

Gameplay

The main attraction of Phigros is its addition of the dynamic judgement line, and the removal of fixed note lanes which allow for more creative charting and more unique gameplay.

The judgement lines can move around in the playing field, rotate, change opacity, adding a layer of complexity to the gameplay. Multiple judgement lines may be active in a given time, and notes can approach from any position on the screen, even serving as judgement lines themselves.

Various note types are featured in Phigros, each having a different way to be approached; which are as follow:

  • Tap Notes: Standard notes that require a tap when they reach the judgment line.
  • Hold Notes: Notes that require a tap and hold until they fully pass over the judgment line.
  • Drag Notes: Notes that require the player to hold when they reach the judgment line, often appearing in large quantities.
  • Flick Notes: Notes that require a swipe in any direction when they reach the judgment line.

The game features 4 base difficulties: EZ, HD, IN, and AT. It has a difficulty scale of 1-17, with hidden chart constants that push the maximum difficulty to 17.6. There is also 2 hidden difficultes, SP and Legacy, the former of which is only featured on special April Fools charts, and the latter is reserved for charts that have gone through a rechart and are wished to be preserved.

Scoring in Phigros is based on the players accuracy on playing the chart, with better accuracy and combo being rewarded with a higher rank, ranging from "F" to "φ" (Greek letter Phi, also referred to as "AP", short for All Perfect).

A player's overall skill level is measured by "Ranking Score" (rks). A player starts with 0.00 rks and can obtain up to 16.98 rks (as of writing). Rks is calculated as the average value from the 27 best plays by rks value and 3 best plays with 100% accuracy. Rks does not contribute to gameplay except for removing unlock requirements for IN charts upon reaching 11 rks.

Phigros' main music genre is electronic music, with songs being provided by various music artists, including independent songs from "THE BMS OF FIGHTERS" competitions, music labels such as SOUL NOTES, or collaborations with other rhythm games like Muse Dash. Phigros often uses its unique mechanics to mimic the source material, as a way to reference the original chart.
