NovaKonexus is a Canadian healthcare technology venture associated with the KITE Research Institute at the Toronto Rehabilitation Institute and University Health Network (UHN).[1][2]

History

In December 2024, the KITE Research Institute announced the appointment of Zen Koh as Strategic Industry Advisor and Entrepreneur-in-Residence, and described him as the incoming chief executive officer of NovaKonexus Inc., characterised as a UHN spin-off focused on neurorehabilitation technologies.[1]

In January 2025, UHN highlighted Koh’s appointment in its internal news publication UHN on the Go.[3]

Overview

UHN Commercialization describes NovaKonexus as a venture developing rehabilitation-related technologies that integrate artificial intelligence, robotics and digital health, including device-based and remote-care approaches for neurorehabilitation, orthopaedics and geriatric care.[2]

Partnerships

According to UHN Commercialization, the venture works with clinical and industry partners, including Michels Kliniken GmbH & Co. KG and the Robotimize Group, alongside University Health Network, to support clinical validation and commercialization activities.[2]

Events and public presence

NovaKonexus has been listed as a participant in sector events. In 2025, representatives from NovaKonexus were listed in the programme for workshops at RehabWeek in Chicago, including Zen Koh and Johannes Michels (identified as a co-founder).[4]

The venture was also listed in the schedule for the Ontario Investment Summit (OIS) 2025 as part of an “Early Technology Showcase” entry described as “UHN – Medly + NovaKonexus”.[5]

Leadership

KITE identified Zen Koh as the incoming chief executive officer of NovaKonexus Inc. in its December 2024 announcement.[1]

UHN Commercialization identifies Milos R. Popovic as a scientific founder/inventor associated with the venture.[2]
