The Lise Meitner Excellence Program is a program of the Max Planck Society designed to promote equal opportunities for women in science.
Procedure
Since 2018, the Max Planck Society has been advertising up to ten additional positions annually for excellent female researchers. These positions are filled through a multiple-stage, competitive selection process in consultation with interested Max Planck Institutes. These female scientists then lead a so-called Lise Meitner Research Group on a five-year fixed-term contract and, upon expiration of the fixed term, are given the opportunity to participate in a tenure-track process that can lead to a permanent position with group resources at the respective Max Planck Institute.
