Institute of Technology, Baun, Uttarkashi is a government-run engineering institute located in Baun village in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand, India. It is one of the campus institutes of Veer Madho Singh Bhandari Uttarakhand Technical University (UTU), Dehradun.

The institute was established by the Government of Uttarakhand as part of an initiative to expand technical education in remote and hilly regions of the state. It commenced its academic session in 2023 and is among the campus institutes under the university.

History

The Institute of Technology, Baun was established under the framework of technical education expansion by the Government of Uttarakhand and the Department of Technical Education. It was set up as a campus institute of Veer Madho Singh Bhandari Uttarakhand Technical University to improve access to engineering education in underserved regions.

The institute is considered one of the campus institutes of Veer Madho Singh Bhandari Uttarakhand Technical University (UTU), Dehradun.[3]

Campus

The institute is located in Baun village in Uttarkashi district. The campus is situated in a mountainous region of Uttarakhand and ...serves students from surrounding rural and semi-urban areas.[4]

Academics

The institute offers undergraduate programs in engineering and computer applications. As of the 2023–24 academic session, the courses offered include:[5]

  • Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) in Computer Science and Engineering
  • B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering (Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning)
  • Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA)

Admissions to B.Tech. programs are conducted through national or state-level entrance examinations such as the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main), in accordance with university norms.
