EzyRemit Worldwide Pty Ltd, trading as EzyRemit, is an Australian financial technology company that provides international remittance and cross-border payment services. The company was founded in Sydney in 2020 by Allan Nguyen and Quoc Ngo and is headquartered in Bankstown.[1][2]

EzyRemit operates a web platform and mobile app for international money transfers, with service categories spanning personal remittances, business payments and education payments.[3][4][5]

The company operates through a multi-entity corporate structure, with subsidiaries in the United States and the United Kingdom alongside its Australian parent. As of 2025, EzyRemit operated six offices across Australia, New Zealand, Vietnam, Japan, Canada and the United States, and supported transfers to more than 50 countries.[4][6][7][8]

History

Founding and early operations (2020-2021)

EzyRemit was conceived after co-founder Allan Nguyen, while operating a Sydney-based accounting and consulting firm advising Vietnamese entrepreneurs in Australia, identified pain points in cross-border remittances to Vietnam.[2] Nguyen, originally from Ho Chi Minh City, had studied information technology in Germany before completing a degree in accounting at Western Sydney University and establishing Allan & Co., a firm serving Vietnamese entrepreneurs and Australian companies entering the Vietnamese market.[2] Co-founder Quoc Ngo, a software engineer with experience in commercial and government technology projects, joined as CEO, with Nguyen serving as CFO.[6]

EzyRemit Worldwide Pty Ltd was registered as an Australian private company on 23 September 2020 under ACN 644 564 821.[1][9] The company initially served the Vietnamese diaspora in Australia, with a focus on international students and corporate clients sending commercial payments.[3] EzyRemit received early-stage export support from Investment NSW, the trade and investment agency of the Government of New South Wales.[3] The company launched its mobile app in September 2021.[10]

Regional partnerships (2022)

On 14 April 2022, EzyRemit signed a partnership agreement with Sacombank-SBR, the remittance subsidiary of Sacombank, to facilitate remittances from Australia, the United States, New Zealand, Japan and Canada to Vietnam.[10] On 29 July 2022, the company launched a Vietnamese-language version of its payment portal, supporting cash delivery and bank transfer services to recipients across more than 50 Vietnamese provinces.[10]

In late 2022, EzyRemit participated in the Singapore FinTech Festival as part of a Team Australia delegation co-facilitated by Austrade, Investment NSW and FinTech Australia.[11][6] During the festival, Austrade facilitated an introduction between EzyRemit and the Canadian Trade Commissioner Service, which the company has described as a factor in its subsequent expansion into North America.[6] The same year, EzyRemit was named a finalist in the "Excellence in Establishing Market Presence: Global" category at the 2022 Finnies Awards, an annual Australian fintech industry competition organised by FinTech Australia.[6]

Industry recognition (2023)

In July 2023, EzyRemit signed a memorandum of understanding with Vietcombank Remittance, a subsidiary of Vietcombank (majority owned by the State Bank of Vietnam), to support inbound remittances to Vietnam.[12]

In November 2023, at the Singapore FinTech Festival, EzyRemit signed a memorandum of understanding with the Indonesian digital payment provider Faspay, joining a 39-member Team Australia delegation co-facilitated by Austrade, Investment NSW and FinTech Australia.[11][6]

For the 2022-2023 financial year, EzyRemit reported revenues of A$127 million and was ranked 60th on The Australian Financial Review's 2023 Fast Starters list, an annual ranking of the fastest-growing privately held Australian companies in operation for fewer than five years.[13][3]

International expansion (2024-2025)

In 2024, EzyRemit opened a representative office in Tokyo to serve the Vietnamese community in Japan.[14] In July 2024, the company hosted a visit by Anoulack Chanthivong, the New South Wales Minister for Industry and Trade, at its Ho Chi Minh City office.[15] In November 2024, EzyRemit relocated its headquarters to the Flinders Centre in Bankstown.[4][16]

In early 2025, EzyRemit expanded its partnership with Sacombank-SBR to the Canadian market through its Toronto office.[17][18] In July 2025, the company announced an integration with the Direct Global Network of Singapore-based Thunes, extending access to real-time payouts in more than 45 countries across Asia, Africa, Europe and the Americas.[19][20] On 27 May 2025, EzyRemit incorporated a United Kingdom subsidiary, EzyRemit Worldwide Ltd, registered with Companies House in London under company number 16474832.[8]

Services

EzyRemit offers three principal service categories through its web platform and mobile app:

  • Personal money transfers for individual senders, including remittances by the Vietnamese diaspora in Australia, Japan, Canada, the United States and other markets.[3][10]
  • Business payments for small and medium enterprises requiring cross-border commercial transfers.[3]
  • Education payments for international students and educational institutions.[3][15]

Delivery methods

Supported delivery methods include bank transfers, mobile wallet deposits (including VNPTPay and ZaloPay), payment card transfers, cash pickup and cash delivery.[10][20][5]

Payment technology

Through a partnership with Monoova, EzyRemit supports PayTo for its Australian customers, enabling real-time bank-to-bank transfers via the Reserve Bank of Australia's New Payments Platform.[6] The company's 2025 integration with Thunes added real-time payout connectivity to mobile wallets, bank accounts, cards and cash pickup locations in more than 45 countries.[19][20]

Pricing structure

According to a comparative analysis published by competitor Wise in February 2024, EzyRemit applies fixed transfer fees that vary based on destination country, transfer amount and delivery speed, and incorporates margins above mid-market exchange rates.[5]

Corporate structure

EzyRemit operates through multiple national entities.

Operations

EzyRemit operates offices in Australia, New Zealand, Vietnam, Japan, Canada and the United States, with the Bankstown site serving as its global headquarters.[20][4] The company employs more than 70 staff globally.[3][4] EzyRemit holds a registered trademark in Canada.[21]

Regulation

In Australia, EzyRemit is registered with the Australian Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre (AUSTRAC) as a remittance service provider and is regulated by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC).[9] In Canada, the company is registered as a money services business with the Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada (FINTRAC).[17]

California cease and desist order

On 4 April 2025, the California Department of Financial Protection and Innovation (DFPI) issued a cease and desist order against EzyRemit Worldwide Inc., the company's Delaware-incorporated United States entity. The order found that the entity had engaged in money transmission in California without holding a money transmitter license under California Financial Code section 2030, citing a documented transaction inquiry from a California resident in September 2024 involving transfers from the United States to Vietnam. The DFPI directed the company to cease money transmission activity in California unless and until it obtains a license from the Commissioner or operates as an agent of a licensed entity. The order was signed by DFPI Commissioner Khalil Mohseni and Deputy Commissioner Mary Ann Smith of the Enforcement Division.[7]
