Draft:Etherwake

Etherwake is an Australian rock band formed in Sydney, New South Wales. The band blends elements of alternative rock, indie rock, heavy rock and post-punk revival, drawing inspiration from artists such as Blink-182, The Beatles, Oasis, The Doors and The Beach Boys.

History

Etherwake was formed in the mid-2020s by guitarist and songwriter Kaya Koktas and bassist and songwriter Monte Menken, who sought to create music combining melodic guitar-driven songwriting with modern alternative rock influences. Initially beginning as a songwriting project, Etherwake later evolved into a full band with fantastic drummer Lukas Peat.

The band's early material featured rough guitar textures, catchy choruses, and lyrical themes centred on youth, identity, nostalgia, and modern life. Their sound has been described as combining classic swag and sensibilities with contemporary indie rock production. Gaining media recognisation within personal communities, Etherwake began performing live in local venues and school-based events throughout Sydney. The group developed a reputation for energetic performances and feel-good heavy shit.
