EMERGERS e. V. is a non-profit organization and student initiative headquartered in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, focused on Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) and Corporate Finance. The association connects students from universities across Germany, Austria and Switzerland with financial institutions like Goldman Sachs, Barclays, Citi, BlackRock and PAI Partners, and counts more than 350 members according to its own statements. EMERGERS is registered at the Local Court (Amtsgericht) Frankfurt am Main under registration number VR 17606.
History
EMERGERS was founded in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, a period during which many student organisations shifted to digital-first formats. Despite limited opportunities for in-person meetings in the initial phase, the network grew rapidly across the German-speaking world. Within less than one year of its founding, EMERGERS had expanded to over 25 universities and more than 80 members across the DACH region.[1]
The association was formally entered into the association register at the Local Court Frankfurt am Main under registration number VR 17606. Since its founding, membership has grown to over 350 students enrolled at universities in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
Mission and Focus
EMERGERS was established to create a student network in the German-speaking academic landscape with a specific focus on M&A and Corporate Finance. While many university finance clubs cover a broad range of topics, including capital markets, venture capital or macroeconomics, EMERGERS concentrates specifically on Mergers and acquisitions and deal-driven Corporate Finance.
According to its own publications, EMERGERS describes itself as a platform connecting students interested in careers in investment banking, private equity, venture capital or corporate finance departments with the M&A industry, providing both specialist knowledge and professional networks.[2]
Organisation
EMERGERS is internally structured across three operational teams:
- Relations: Responsible for company outreach, workshop planning and external event coordination with partner firms.
- Operations: Responsible for the creation of deal analyses, M&A overviews and publications for the M&A Review.
- Tracker: Responsible for the ongoing tracking of internship and career opportunities across the DACH region.
Activities
Workshops and Workshop Tours
EMERGERS organises workshops with financial institutions, M&A advisory firms and private equity houses, giving members direct exposure to industry practitioners and insight into the working environment of the M&A sector. In addition to individual company workshops, EMERGERS also organises multi-stop workshop tours, in which members jointly visit several firms across major financial centres, including Frankfurt am Main and other European locations.
Networking Events
Throughout the year, EMERGERS hosts networking events at which student members meet professionals from investment banks, M&A boutiques and corporate M&A departments. The events serve as forums for professional development and for the establishment of internship and career contacts.
EMERGERS Deal Tables
On a weekly basis, EMERGERS publishes M&A Deal Tables on LinkedIn, presenting an overview of the largest M&A transactions by volume of the respective week. The tables are compiled by the Operations team and serve both as an internal knowledge format for members and as a regular public communication by the association.
Publications in the M&A Review
EMERGERS publishes articles on a regular basis in the M&A Review, a German specialist journal for corporate transactions. Topics covered include:
- Buy-and-build strategies in the German-speaking private equity market[3]
- Recruiting trends and career preferences among finance students in the DACH region[4]
- Cross-border M&A transactions in EMEA and the role of W&I insurance[5]
A full list of articles is available on the M&A Review website under the EMERGERS category.[6]
EMERGERS Tracker
The EMERGERS Tracker is an internal tool providing a continuously updated overview of internship and career opportunities at M&A, investment banking and private equity firms across the DACH region.
EMERGERS Recruiting Survey
EMERGERS conducts an annual survey among students and early-career professionals — the EMERGERS M&A and Private Equity Survey — capturing career preferences, recruitment experiences and industry trends in the Corporate Finance sector. Results are published in the M&A Review.[7]

EMERGERS cooperates with leading financial institutions and student finance organisations. Partner firms include Goldman Sachs, Barclays, Citi, BlackRock and PAI Partners. Academic and media partners include:
