Toponymy

The suffix -ippo is typical of settlements in the historic southern Hispania Baetica region, which likely means oppidum (town or city) associated with the TurduliTurdetaniTartessians.[1] The prefix basil– might be related to the title Basileus or the region of Baetica.[2][3]
