Bruce Tegner (1929-1985) was a martial artist, author, and actor. Bruce practiced a number of martial arts including Savate, Judo, Karate, Jujutsu, and Jukado.[1] His books were key in the development of others into martial arts including Paul Weitz and Chris Weitz.[2] He additionally choreographed a fight scene in the 1962 movie Manchurian Candidate.[1] In addition he appeared in a number of TV shows including The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet.[3] In 1963 Bruce Tegner founded the self-defense-oriented martial art of Jukado based on Japanese Judo and Jujutsu, Karate, Aikido, and stick fighting (escrima).

Personal life

Tegner died of a heart attack at the age of 55 in Ventura, California on August 28, 1985. He was cremated and his ashes were buried at sea in Ventura Harbor.

Bruce was married to Canadian activist Alice McGrath from 1977 until his death.[4]
