  • 1 Φεβρουαρίου - Γίνεται επικεφαλής της Καθολικής Εκκλησίας ο Πάπας Αδριανός Α΄
  • Ο βασιλιάς Καρλομάγνος οδηγεί ένα φράγκικο εκστρατευτικό σώμα σε διαφιλονικούμενη περιοχή που είχε χαθεί από τους Φράγκους. Αρχίζει μία θρησκευτική εκστρατεία εναντίον των Σαξόνων και καταλαμβάνει το Έρεσμπουργκ κοντά στο Παντερμπόρν. Ο Καρλομάγνος καταλαμβάνει πολλά μεγάλα οχυρά των Σαξόνων και τους αναγκάζει να υποχωρήσουν πέρα από τον ποταμό Βέσερ. Μετά από διαπραγματεύσεις με ορισμένους Σάξονες ευγενείς και αφού είχε πάρει ομήρους, εγκαθιστά μία σειρά από φρουρές.
  • Ο Πάπας έπαψε να μνημονεύει τον αυτοκράτορα της Ανατολής
