Coelorinchus matamua és una espècie de peix de la família dels macrúrids i de l'ordre dels gadiformes.

• Els mascles poden assolir 65 cm de llargària total.^[2][3]

Menja, entre d'altres, peixos (Myctophidae) i crancs.^[2]

És un peix d'aigües profundes que viu entre 450-1000 m de fondària.^[2]

Es troba a Sud-àfrica, Nova Zelanda^[4] i el sud-est d'Austràlia (incloent-hi Tasmània).^[5][6][2]
