Prof. Ir. Sofia Miriyanti Alisjahbana Wangsadinata, M.Sc, Ph.D. adalah rektor sekaligus dosen di Universitas Bakrie (2010-present). Prof Sofia memperoleh gelar Master of Science (M.Sc) dalam bidang Engineering Mechanics,Department of Engineering Mechanics, University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA pada 1988 setelah dua tahun sebelumnya, 1986, menyelesaikan pendidikan Teknik Sipil di Institut Teknologi Bandung, Indonesia. Pada 1992. Prof Sofia meraih gelar Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) di Department of Engineering Mechanics and Astronautics, University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA dengan desertasi berjudul: Rotating Annular Plate Response to Arbitrary Moving Load.
Prof Sofia memulai karier di dunia akademis sebagai Teaching Assistant di almamaternya Engineering Mechanics Department, University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA pada 1988 serta menjadi Research Assistant. Sepulang ke Tanah Air, Prof Sofia kemudian menjadi staf pengajar di Departemen Teknik Sipil Universitas Tarumanagara sejak 1993. Prof Sofia juga pernah menjadi Wakil Ketua Program Magister Teknik Sipil, Wakil Rektor bidang Administrasi dan Keuangan, Ketua Program Magister Teknik Sipil, Ketua Program Doktor Teknik Sipil, Direktur Program Pascasarjana, hingga Wakil Rektor bidang Akademik Universitas Tarumanagara yang dijabatnya hingga 2009. Sejak Maret 2010, Prof Sofia kemudian bergabung dan dikukuhkan sebagai Rektor Universitas Bakrie. Di samping aktif di dunia kampus, Prof Sofia juga pernah menjabat Research & Development Manager di PT Wiratman & Associates pada 1993-1995, serta menjadi Senior Assessor Badan Akreditasi Nasional Pendidikan Tinggi (BAN PT) Departemen Pendidikan Nasional Republik Indonesia sejak 2001 hingga sekarang.
