Semut madu

Semut madu, (bahasa Inggris: honeypot ants atau repletes) adalah semut yang menggantung dengan perut penuh makanan dari semut pekerja, pada abdomen mereka yang membengkak, hal ini disebut plerergate. Kemudian semut lain mengolah makanan tersebut. Fungsi utama mereka hanya menyimpan makanan. Semut madu termasuk ke dalam lima genera, termasuk Myrmecocystus.[1] Semut ini pertama kali dideskripsikan pada 1881 oleh Henry C. McCook.
