Pomacanthus adalah genus ikan Injel yang biasanya ditemukan di sekitar terumbu karang dan koral. Beberapa tempat yang dapat digunakan untuk melihat ikan ini secara langsung yakni Maladewa, Sri Lanka, dan Pulau Sipadan di lepas pantai selatan Sabah, Malaysia. Umumnya pola dan warna ikan ini mengalami transformasi besar dari bentuk remaja hingga dewasa. Remajanya bahkan mungkin tampak seperti spesies yang berbeda.
