Plethodontidae atau salamander tak berparu, adalah sebuah famili salamander. Dengan lebih dari 500 spesies, salamander tak berparu adalah famili salamander terbesar dalam segi keanekaragaman. Sebagian besar spesies berasal dari belahan Bumi barat, dari British Columbia hingga Brasil. Hanya dua genera sintas yang ditemukan di belahan Bumi timur: Speleomantes (dari Sardinia dari Eropa daratan utama di selatan Alpen) dan Karsenia (dari Korea Selatan).[1]

Sebagian besar dari mereka adalah hewan darat dan aktif di siang hari. Plethodontidae dapat berkomunikasi dengan hidung mereka, melalui lubang vertikal, yang berperan dalam kemoresepsi.[2]p168
