Pico Duarte adalah puncak tertinggi di Republik Dominika, Pulau Hispaniola, dan wilayah Karibia secara keseluruhan dengan ketinggian 3.098 m. Gunung ini terletak di Pegunungan Cordillera Central. Pico Duarte juga terletak sekitar 85 km di sebelah timur laut titik terendah di Pulau Hispaniola, Danau Enriquillo.

Sejarah

Orang Eropa pertama yang mendaki gunung ini adalah konsul Britania Raya Sir Robert Hermann Schomburgk pada tahun 1851.[2]

Geografi

Ketinggian gunung ini menjadi subjek perdebatan selama beberapa dasawarsa. Pada tahun 2003, tinggi Pico Duarte diukur dengan menggunakan teknologi GPS, dan hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa tingginya 3.098 m.[3]
