Parictis adalah genus awal dari beruang, ursid yang sangat kecil dan anggun dengan panjang tengkorak hanya 7 cm. Parictis pertama kali muncul di Amerika Utara pada masa Eosen Akhir (sekitar 38 juta tahun lalu), tetapi tidak datang ke Eurasia dan Afrika sampai masa Miosen.[1] Ada beberapa yang mengatakan bahwa sebuah emigrasi dari Asia mungkin telah menghadirkan Parictis di Amerika Utara, tetapi belum ada fosil Parictis yang ditemukan di Asia Timur.
