Oxynotus adalah sebuah genus hiu dalam ordo Squaliformes. Genus ini merupakan satu-satunya anghota dalam keluarga Oxynotidae. Mereka hidup di bagian dalam Samudera Atlantik dan Pasifik bagian barat.

Ciri Fisik

Hiu ini berukuran kecil hingga sedang, dengan panjang tubuh dewasa berkisar antara 49 hingga 150 cm tergantung spesiesnya. Tubuh mereka dikompresi, sehingga membentuk penampang segitiga. Mereka memiliki dua sirip punggung yang besar, masing-masing dengan duri yang tajam, dan sirip pertama ditempatkan jauh ke depan di atas kepala. Terlebih lagi dibandingkan kerabatnya yang lain dalam ordo squaliformes, kulit mereka kasar dan berduri. Mereka juga memiliki organ yang bercahaya.[2]
