Metaloestrogen

Metaloestrogen adalah golongan xenoestrogen anorganik yang dapat memengaruhi ekspresi gen sel manusia yang merespons estrogen. Efeknya terkait dengan fungsi fisiologis estrogen karena metaloestrogen telah menunjukkan afinitas terhadap reseptor estrogen. Karena dapat meniru estrogen sehingga mengaktifkan reseptor, metaloestrogen dianggap berbahaya dan berpotensi terkait dengan kanker payudara.[1] Daftar metaloestrogen meliputi aluminium, antimon, arsenit, barium, kadmium,[2] kromium (Cr(II)), kobalt, tembaga, timbal, raksa, nikel, selenit, timah, dan vanadat.[1][3]
