Kilimani adalah lingkungan pemukiman yang makmur di kota Nairobi, ibu kota sekaligus kota terbesar di Kenya.[1]

Lokasi

Kilimani terletak sekitar 4 km di sebelah barat distrik pusat bisnis,[2] sebelah selatan lahan yasan Lavington dan arah utara dari Woodley.

Ikhtisar

Lingkungan pemukiman ini awalnya didirikan sebagai daerah pemukiman hanya untuk orang kulit putih oleh penjajah Inggris pada pertengahan abad ke-20, hingga tahun 1960 ketika lingkungan ini terintegrasi secara rasial.[3] Kilimani secara historis merupakan hunian dengan kepadatan penduduk yang rendah, tetapi sejak tahun 2000 menjadi campuran lingkungan hunian, komersial serta perkantoran, sehingga tingkat kepadatannya meningkat drastis.[4]

State House Nairobi, kediaman resmi Presiden Kenya terletak di Kilimani, di State House Road.[5] Nairobi Arboretum (tempat berbagai pohon ditanam dan dikembangbiakkan untuk tujuan penelitian atau pendidikan), menampilkan lebih dari 300 spesies pohon eksotis dan asli, terletak bersebelahan dengan State House.[6]
