Kerit

Kerit (Ibrani: נַחַל כְּרִית; Naḥal Kərīṯ; /ˈkɔːrɑːθ/; bahasa Yunani: Χειμάῤῥους Χοῤῥάθ cheimárrhous Chorrháth, artinya "Wadi[1] Kerit"), adalah nama sungai atau wadi yang disebutkan dalam Perjanjian Lama.[2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9] Nabi Elia bersembunyi di tepi Korat dan memakani para gagak pada paruh awal kekeringan tiga tahun yang ia umumkan kepada Raja Ahab (1 Raja 17:3).
Identifikasi
Wadi al-Yabis
Kerit biasanya diidentidikasikan dengan Wadi al-Yabis, sebuah sungai di barat Yordania.[10]
Wadi Kelt
Selain itu, sungai Kerit diidentifikasikan oleh beberapa orang dengan Wadi Kelt di Biara Santo Gregorius.[11]
Wadi di Fasaelis
Pada 1321, Marino Sanuto yang Tua menyatakan bahwa sungai tersebut berada di Fasaelis, yang diambil dari nama Pangeran Fasael, saudara Raja Herodes.[12] Identifikasi tersebut bertentangan dengan terjemahan umum dari 1 Raja-Raja 17:3, karena Fasaelis mengalir ke barat, bukan timur Yordania.
