Joshua ben Gamla


Joshua ben Gamla (bahasa Ibrani: יהושע בן גמלא‎), juga disebut Yesus putra Gamala (bahasa Yunani: Ἰησοῦς υἱὸς Γαμάλα), adalah seorang imam agung Yahudi pada sekitar tahun 64-65 Masehi. Ia gugur pada Perang Yahudi–Romawi Pertama. Meskipun Talmud merujuk kepada Joshua ben Gamla, karya-karya Yunani sebelumnya dari Josephus Flavius menyebutnya Γαμάλα μὲν υἱὸς Ἰησοῦς (Gamala men huios Iesous) sebuah semitisme untuk: Putra Gamala, Yesus.[1]

Joshua menikahi janda kaya Martha dari keluarga imam agung Boethus[2] dan diangkat menjadi Imam Agung oleh Herodes Agrippa II.[3] Menurut sumber-sumber Talmud,[4]
