Fynbos

Fynbos gunung di Semenanjung Cape

Fynbos (/ˈfeɪnbɒs/; pelafalan dalam bahasa Afrikaans: [ˈfəinbɔs], terj. har. 'semak halus') adalah sebuah sabuk kecil vegetasi kerangas atau belukar yang berada di provinsi Tanjung Barat dan Tanjung Timur di Afrika Selatan. Area ini sebagian besar berlandskap pesisir dan pegunungan, dengan iklim mediterania.

Ekoregion fynbos berada dalam bioma hutan, lahan berpohon, dan semak belukar Mediterania. Pada bidang keilmuan yang berhubungan dengan biogeografi, fynbos dikenal memiliki tingkat keanekaragaman hayati[1] dan endemisme yang tinggi,[2] mencakup sekitar 80% (8,500 fynbos) spesies dari semua spesies Kawasan Floristik Tanjung, 6000 spesies di antaranya endemik.[3]

Wilayah ini terus terpapar oleh ancaman aktivitas manusia, namun karena terdapat banyak kegunaan ekonomis dari fynbos, terdapat upaya-upaya konservasi yang dilakukan untuk melestarikannya.
