Distrik Thatta (bahasa Sindh: ٺٽو ضلعو, bahasa Urdu: ضلع ٹھٹھہ) adalah sebuah distrik yang terletak di wilayah selatan, yang secara lokal disebut Laar, di provinsi Sindh, Pakistan. Ibu kotanya adalah Thatta. Ini merupakan rumah bagi pekuburan besar Makli. Pada tahun 2013, beberapa taluka dipisahkan menjadi Distrik Sujawal yang baru.[3]

Sejarah

Distrik ini menjadi ibu kota dari tiga dinasti Sindhi berturut-turut dan kemudian diperintah oleh Mughal. Jejak sejarah distrik ini terlihat jelas di pekuburan Makli, yang tersebar di area seluas dua belas kilometer persegi. Dinasti-dinasti tersebut adalah: Samma (1335-1520), Arghun (1520-1555) dan Tarkhan (1555-1665).[4] Thatta terus-menerus dibangun dari abad ke-14 hingga ke-18. Sisa-sisa kota dan pekuburannya memberikan pemandangan unik peradaban di Sindh. Kota Thatta beranda sekitar 98 km (61 mil) timur Karachi. Thatta juga menjabat sebagai ibu kota Sindh dan sebagai pusat seni Islam.[5]
