Chevauchée

Chevauchée (bahasa Prancis: "perjalanan" atau "serangan kuda", tergantung konteksnya) adalah suatu metode dalam peperangan Abad Pertengahan untuk memperlemah musuh yang lebih terfokus pada membuat kerusakan, membakar dan menjarah teritori musuh. Metode ini bertujuan untuk mengurangi produktivitas suatu daerah; berbeda dengan pengepungan atau perang penaklukan. Chevauchée dapat digunakan sebagai cara untuk memaksa musuh melawan, atau mendiskreditkan pemerintahan musuh serta melepaskan kesetiaan anggota pemerintahan. Metode ini biasanya menyebabkan pengungsian penduduk massal ke kota-kota dan kastil berbenteng yang tidak akan tersentuh oleh chevauchée.
