Bromheksin[1] adalah obat mukolitik yang digunakan dalam pengobatan gangguan sistem pernapasan yang berhubungan dengan lendir kental atau berlebihan.[2] Obat ini dikembangkan di laboratorium penelitian Boehringer Ingelheim pada akhir tahun 1950an sebagai bahan aktif untuk keperluan farmasi, lalu dipatenkan pada tahun 1961 dan diperkenalkan pada tahun 1963 dengan merek dagang Bisolvon® dan mulai digunakan secara medis pada tahun 1966.[3]
