Neonauclea atau Bangkal adalah genus tumbuhan berbunga dalam keluarga Rubiaceae. Ini terdiri dari sekitar 71 spesies. [1] Neonauclea adalah genus semak dan pohon Mereka berasal dari China, India, Asia Tenggara, Wallacea, Papua dan Australia.

Neonauclea dinamai pada tahun 1915 oleh Elmer Drew Merrill. [2] [3] Nama generiknya berasal dari genus terkait Nauclea dan kata Yunani neos, yang berarti "baru". [4]

Tipe biologis Neonauclea terdiri dari spesimen yang disebut Merrill Neonauclea obtusa. [5] Ini sekarang termasuk dalam Neonauclea excelsa. [6]
