Aeromonas adalah genus bakteria anaerobik fakultatif gram-negatif yang secara morfologi mirip dengan famili Enterobacteriaceae. Di antara 14 spesies yang telah dideskripsikan, kebanyakan telah dikaitkan dengan penyakit pada manusia. Di antara patogen yang paling utama adalah A. hydrophila, A. caviae, dan A. veronii biovar sobria. Organisme ini banyak ditemukan di air tawar maupun air payau.[2]

Morfologi

Aeromonas memiliki sel berbentuk batang dengan ukuran kurang dari 3 mikron. Bakteri ini dapat bersifat motil atau non-motil dan mempunyai flagela monotrik.[3]
